Send Files to TV

If you own a smart television, then it will probably have Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. I personally don't understand why manufacturers call their TVs with ability to connect to the internet a smart TV since it only lets you use your TV as large screen for your online streaming most of the time. My smart TV connects my remote with Bluetooth and it lets me watch videos on YouTube and Netflix through Wi-Fi connection.

Sometimes, you do not want to watch online videos on your TV and rather you want to watch offline videos and pictures such as your marriage film, family photos, university lectures etc. In order to do this, you can copy media files to a USB drive and connect it to your TV. It will most likely have two or more USB ports for the same reason. However, smart TVs also come with its own storage space, where your TV operating system is installed. In my case, it's an Android TV and it can have 2.7 GB free storage if I don't install additional applications. If I use Netflix and / or Amazon Prime, which usually comes pre-installed with your smart TV, then the free storage becomes even less. Still, it is usable if the content you're trying to copy is less than available free storage. I personally have not tried Bluetooth for copying files as it is old and slow compared to what is available to us already.

Introduction

Send Files to TV is an application available for Android phones and Android TVs. This application allows you to send and receive files from this app over your Wi-Fi connection. The only restriction is that both devices are needed to be connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Send Files to TV is very easy to use and all you need to do is to send whatever you want by selecting the right device while sending your files. Although, I like Feem much more because it is even easier to use and understand while having more functionality such as sending text messages through your Wi-Fi connection. But unfortunately, this application is not available for Android TV.

Instructions

Once you have installed this application on your Android phone and TV, then follow these steps in order to send your files to your TV.
  1. Open Send Files to TV application on your phone as well as TV.
  2. You will see two large buttons saying "Send" and "Receive". Click send button.
  3. All your files will be shown to you within the application. If you're using an SD card then you can select it from top right corner drop down menu.
  4. Go to target directory and select whichever file you want to send. If you hold press on that file then you will get option to select multiple files within the same folder. Once you have selected all files, click ok icon in top right corner.
  5. That's it. This file will start sending your selected file(s) to your TV.
One thing to note is that sending files from this application will use your Wi-Fi traffic. So if your Wi-Fi network is crowded then this application may send files slowly compared to when the Wi-Fi network is less crowded. Once this application has successfully forwarded your files to TV, it will push a notification on your phone.

Installation

The installation of this application is very easy. All you have to do is to open Play Store application on your TV and mobile. Search Send Files to TV and click install. If you're using a custom android phone, then either try downloading apk file from official website or install this application from alternative android stores.
Previously, I did install Send Files to TV application on my Microsoft Windows computer, but the installation package is not available anymore through its official website. I assume that installation package may be available somewhere else on the internet. But I do not recommend installation from unofficial sources.
